Short overview of activities in Spain (4th mobility)

The last mobility to Spain was an extraordinary opportunity for the 3 students and 4 teachers of our school to spend unforgettable days in the company of our perfect hosts and of their friends from the partner countries: Estonia and Turkey.

The activities referred to research in the marine ecosystem – Mar Menor and the Mediterranean – visiting Terra Natura in Murcia – protected species of animals from all over the world – and Oceanographic in Valencia – the biggest aquatic park in Europe and the greatest in the world regarding the number of species hosted here – as well as the discovery of vulnerable species, such as the seahorse, the Possidonia algae and many others.

We visited the school vegetable garden, which the students look after with much dedication, even if the dry and hot climate in Murcia is hardly suitable for farming, except for using an especially designed irrigation system. The students participating in the mobility had the honour to plant an orange tree and a fig-tree in the school orchard.

Visiting the partner school and three other schools of different levels facilitated our access to the Spanish educational system, thus realizing how education and instruction can go hand in hand with open air activities, concern for the others and respect for nature. The relaxed atmosphere in all the schools visited is also illustrated by the lack of violence between students, which really is a remarkable thing. We all had the pleasure to acknowledge the mutual understanding and good will between students and teachers, the respect, trust and personal valorization between them.

The project meetings emphasized what each partner had achieved so far, negotiated the final products and the use of the project site. The personal involvement of the students’ parents and the community has been obvious all through the programmed formal and informal activities.

Using English as a communication language of the project enabled our students as well as our teachers to improve their knowledge of English in sharing experience with the teachers and students from the other partner countries and with the students’ parents and local community in Murcia. The fact that the students were hosted in their counterparts families enhanced the European dimension of our partnership.

We thank our kind hosts – teachers, students, and parents, local authorities - for the warm welcome and hospitality and for their constant concern for us during our stay. The friendship and warm feelings we have for all the people we met in Spain, as well as for our dear partners, will undoubtedly last forever.

Thank you, Spain!

Thank you, Comenius!
